What is a Muster?

A muster in the Fife & Drum world is a gathering of many fife & drum corps who usually march a parade through town out to the muster field. From there each corps performs a show for the public. The performances are then followed by a jam session in which all fifers and drummers gather and play music for hours.

Traditionally, a muster served as a social gathering of townsfolk to the "Town Green" under the guise of sharing recipes, stories and music, while the colonists prepared for the impending conflict with the British, later known as the Revolutionary War. In present day, the muster serves as a gathering of fife and drum musicians to share friendship and music.

Our next muster is planned for 2009, in historic Leesburg, Virginia. (Date and actual location to be determine.)

General admission is free to the public! All are invited to attend for an experience you and your family will surely enjoy!
